Gwendolyn Quezaire-Presutti
Gwendolyn is an Artist-in-Residence at the Connecticut Historical Society Museum. She is an International Award Winning Toastmaster and the recipient of the Director's Award for Excellence, from the Institute of Texan Cultures. She is also the 2006 recipient of the Boston Fund Artist Fellowship through the Greater Hartford Arts Council. IN HAGAR’S KITCHEN (Grades 6-12)The scene takes place during the eighteenth century in Wethersfield, CT. Hagar, an enslaved woman, is the property of Silas Deane, a merchant from Wethersfield. Hagar illuminates historical moments as she unravels events touching the lives of slaves, native people, indentured servants and the rich slave owners during this Colonial period. Wearing period costume, the actress portrays the live of the enslaved Hagar in Connecticut. The character of Hagar will transport the audience deep into the thread of slavery and colonial America. This program is a characterization of a researched historical individual.
