Touring Artist-Limited Availability-In Connecticut October 18th!!!

Gideon Freudmann's mastery of classical cello combined with his skillful use of electronics introduces students to the cello history and construction, offers a wide variety of musical styles from classical, folk, pop, and jazz, and salutes the joy of music making.

CelloBop (Grades K-12)

Imagine the passion of a Mozart aria or the fury of a Bartok quartet layered with an R&B sensibility. This is the essence of Gideon's program CelloBop, which incorporates an evocative new musical
form that melds classical precision with the power of technology. Freudmann's innovative use of electronics combined with classical bowing techniques, pizzicato, strumming and finger picking allow
him to tap into the mysteries of the cello's expansive potential. Students come away with a greater understanding of the cello and a sense of joy as music-makers and music-listeners. Length: 45 minutes

Sound Science Program (Grades 3-12)

Gideon gives students a closer look at the masterful match of music and science. They explore concepts in Math (beats per measure and measures per phrase); Science (sound waves, tones, overtones, harmonics); and, Technology (electronic sound enhancement). Gideon and his cello demonstrate electronic reverbs, delays, pitch shifters and phrase samplers. Length: 45 minutes
