to bring fairy tales to life through musical theatre. Through mask
making, movement, musical theatre and hands-on workshops she
fosters self-discovery through the arts. She has worked with
children in schools, with hospitalized and chronically ill children
and their families, and with cancer and dialysis patients and their
caregivers.
And the Animals …Move Workshop ( Pre K -2)
Children discover the magic of movement and mask making as
they experience animals from the “inside out”. They revel in walking in the legs, swimming in the fins, flying in the
wings…. of animals that inhabit the earth… and in imaginary
creatures they
create! This workshop is meant to support your
work with the children in exploring animal families and animal
life. It is interactive
and experiential and may be incorporated
into the content area, or used as a stand-alone experience for the
children
Length: 45 Minutes
Native American Totem Masks Residency (Grades 4-6)
Totems come to life through this mask making Experience.
Students embrace the reverence that Native Americans have for
the
earth and the spirit of the animals that are part of it. This
workshop introduces students to a sculpture technique using
plaster
gauze casting. Casting their own faces as a base, they
create a totem that in some way represents an animal spirit that is
meaningful
to them. This residency focuses on Native American
Tradition, specifically the meaning of totems to Native
Americans and the art
process of plaster gauze casting.
