African Dance and Drumming

Mikata's vibrant performance leaves students with an understanding of Africa's strong links to the cultures of the U.S., the Caribbean and South America. Led by Master Teaching Artist, Richard Hill, Mikata invites you to join in the dancing, singing and chanting of other countries.


Rhythmic Expedition (Grades K-12)


Powerful rhythmic music and dance carry you to the cultures of Nigeria, Ghana, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and the U.S. Join Mikata as they play music and dance to the music of many countries. Length: 45 minutes

Mikata Drum Tales (Grades K-6)


Join Connecticut State Troubadour Jeff McQuillan and Master Teaching Artist Richard Hill as they take you on their adventures across the globe. Meet Baduasemanpensa, the African princess, and Anansi the Spider and other fascinating characters. Learn an African dance, a song, or a rhythm game as you become part of the story. Length: 45 Minutes
